Sage
1/1
Live Sage
Sage is pretty powerful. When raw, it's almost medicinal smelling & tasting. But when cooked, sage mellows, adding a delicately pungent woodiness to the right vegetables.
8 Things To Do With Sage
1. Cook the sage leaves in olive oil until they’re crisp; then crumple them in with baked asparagus.
2. Cooked sage, chopped onions and garlic make a zesty foundation for ravioli stuffing (especially when mixed with mushed acorn squash) or for a pasta sauce.
3. Try a small amount of cooked, chopped-up sage leaves in deviled eggs.
4. Grated ginger, chopped onions, chopped sage and chopped tomatoes make a base that is just ideal for prawn or shrimp stir fries. Throw in some fresh corn kernels (late summer) or peas (early summer).
5. Cooked sage & mushrooms! Yes!
6. The flavour of fresh peas from the garden is heightened by the addition of a little sage cooked in olive oil.
7. Try just a little chopped cooked sage on a baked potato with a little butter.
8. Chop up some raw sage & add it to your baking acorn squash about 45 minutes before the squash is done.
